Breeders on a break!
Some news about the podcast
Hi there This Week in Breeders listeners. It’s Sarah and Garrett, with some breaking news. The short version is that we’re taking a break from new episodes for a bit. If you’re a paid subscriber, we’re pausing your account so that you don’t get charged during podcast hibernation time.
The longer version? When we started this podcast, we told ourselves that we would do a “first season,” and then take stock of how it was going. We didn’t define how long that first season was going to be. Is that what professional podcast people do? Perhaps. As people who have now listened to our general deal for a while now, you won’t be surprised that we did not plan like that.
Turns out, that plan was smart. We did end up with a clear sense of when it would be good to pause for a while. Namely, now. That’s when the time felt right. You may have noticed, but we’ve gotten more sporadic in putting out episodes these past few weeks– a combination of a larger-than-average number of extra personal and professional layers for both of us. We don’t see that changing any time soon (after all, Garrett wrote the first draft of this from Seattle, where he was up to all sorts of overly ambitious community-building nonsense).
When making this decision, we asked each other “so, do we want to make this just a break or do we want to say that the podcast had a good run?” Right now our gut is the former. We had a lot of fun with this! And hope you did too! And though maybe we’ll change our mind, right now the plan is to be back with a likely-equally-ill-defined season two at some point before our children graduate from high school. We may take that time to freshen up the format a bit, but it’ll still be us, in your ears, being breeders. If the pod has been meaningful or delightful or provocative for you, please let us know. Obviously, it’s nice to know that folks value our work, but as we think through what a future season looks like, it’s even more helpful to know what resonates with you.
Thank you so much for joining us for this lap around the podcast track. We truly would have been happy just talking to each other, but to have cool people ALSO listening to it? And occasionally sharing their thoughts and reactions with us? Jeez louise. Pretty cool.
Ok, love you all
-Garrett and Sarah
